Wilcox Dunakin Chrisopoulos, LLP is panel counsel for insurance carriers and has qualified as independent or Cumis counsel under Civil Code § 2860. Our firm routinely works with insurers to defend insureds in civil litigation matters ranging from minor “slip and falls” to catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation. Our focus is on providing the insureds with a full and complete defense, leaving “no stone unturned” in responding to a claim or complaint, aggressively pursuing investigation and discovery to allow for early liability and exposure analysis, pursuing summary judgment or adjudication, and vigorously representing the insured through final resolution in mediations, arbitrations, trials and appeals. We recognize the nuances of each matter, with examples including pursuing early resolution and/or offers to compromise under Code of Civil Procedure § 998 to avoid scenarios wherein “attorney fee” claims and costs control litigation and prevent resolution, or obtaining information required to allow for offsets and/or reduction of personal injury awards in accord with Howell v. Hamilton Meats & Provisions, Inc. (2011) 52 Cal.4th 541.
